Gregory Isaacs Resting in the UK after medical tests

Published: Sep 10, 2010 by rastamasta Filed under: News

Gregory Isaacs Live 2010Reggae legend Gregory Isaacs is currently resting in England after undergoing a series of medical tests Riddimtube.com has learnt.

The longstanding reggae hero, who has been dubbed the 'Cool Ruler', has endured a hectic year touring and performing at many live concerts and festivals.

Is Isaacs severely ill?

Earlier this week we have been hearing reports that the singer was very ill and in hospital abroad. Isaac’s manager, Copeland Forbes, however, said contrary and confirmed the singer is okay and doing well.

In an email to The Weekend Star Forbes said: “he’s not in a hospital he’s staying with Linda Smith (our United Kingdom management representative and promoter of the Reggae Symphony Concerts in the UK) who’s been taking good care of him as he’s taking a well deserved rest after a very hectic year of concert performances.”

Forbes added, “as I’ve said he’s undergoing some medical test as he has a blood circulation problem in his legs and some pains in his chest which has been bothering him for over a year. He’s scheduled to return to the doctor on September 21 for a follow-up on his condition and should be back in Jamaica October 9.”

We will keep fans posted as news of Isaacs health comes in.

Vybz Kartel Says He’s Being Targeted By Police!

Published: Sep 10, 2010 by rastamasta Filed under: News

vybz kartelPopular Dancehall 'Deejay' Vybz Kartel (real name Adidja Palmer) says he feels he is being targeted by the Police and that a group of people are conspiring to lock him up behind bars.

Speaking to The Weekend Star, Kartel said: “I feel like someone, or a group of people are conspiring to try to get me arrested. On Monday, I got a call from a friend who works at Greater Portmore Police Station telling me that there’s a rumour over there that I put out a hit on a police over there and that I should try clear my name. I immediately called my lawyer and informed her of the news and she said she was going to call the station to query the matter.”

The deejay then went on to say: “Somebody trying to set me up but that don’t hold no water because whether it is a routine check on the road, traffic violation or even question and answer, the cops and I have never had a bad encounter.”

"I sing songs, I don't sling guns"

He continued, “I sing songs, I don’t sling guns so I would like to go to the public because this is set up business that someone is obviously trying.”

The Weekend Star claimed to have made checks to verify Kartel's claims, however they were unsuccessful as all their enquiries were directed to a Senior Policeman for the St. Catherine South Division and he was reportedly unavailable to formally respond. Several calls to this Senior Policeman were made including calls to his office and cellular phone, however there was no response up to press time last night.

“I don’t know if it’s true or not, I’m not in the capacity to comment. It’s best you speak to the boss,” a Corporal at the Greater Portmore Police Station said when The Weekend Star contacted them yesterday.

Earlier this year Kartel was reportedly among a group of six men who were described by Police as a "major person of interest". These men including Kartel were asked to turn themselves in to Police custody. Kartel eventually turned himself into the Police, during the time of state of emergency. He was released two weeks later.

Kartel made a reference to this previous arrest yesterday when he said: "this is not the first time someone tried to accuse me. While I was detained during the state of emergency, police came to me in the cell and said they received statement that I threatened a policeman’s life. When they contacted the policeman who was allegedly threatened, he said he didn’t know anything about that and that he and I were good friends from primary school days, we grew up together.”

Whether Kartel's claims are valid concerns it is too early to tell, however watch this space as we will keep up-to-date as this story develops.
